Zola’s Feasts Lasagne


Serves 4-6

3 Tbs olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 carrot, grated
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
500g beef mince
3 Tbs Zola’s Feasts Flavourbomb Spice Mix
2 Tbs tomato paste
1 Tbs sugar
80g butter
1/4 cup flour
3 cups milk
200g cheddar cheese, grated
Salt and pepper
9 lasagne sheets (depending on number of layers desired)
1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 beef stock cube
1 cup water
Salt and pepper to taste


Heat olive oil in a large pot, add onion, carrot and garlic, then sauté over medium heat until veggies begin to soften.

Add mince and Zola’s Feasts spice, then sauté until mince begins to brown.

Add tomato paste and sugar, then sauté for a minute.

Add tinned tomatoes, stock cube and water, cover and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Melt butter in a saucepan, then whisk in the flour and allow to cook for a minute.

Whisk in the milk, then keep stirring until thickened and bubbling.

Simmer for 5 minutes.

Stir in 3/4 of the grated cheese, and season to taste.

Preheat oven to 180c

Spoon some meat sauce into the bottom of a baking dish, then top with first layer of pasta sheets, top with some of the cheese sauce, then sprinkle some cheese before spooning on more meat sauce.

Repeat layers ending with a layer of cheese sauce and a sprinkle of cheese.

Bake in the oven for 30 minutes until the top is golden and melted and the pasta sheets are cooked through in the middle
